Use small stuff to make big impressions

This is a post from our WordofMouth.org project. Check it out for more great word of mouth marketing tips like this every day.

While your service and your stuff are key to giving your customers a remarkable experience, sometimes what they talk about has more to do with the little details. These small things make for great opportunities to let your personality shine through and start word of mouth.

Lots of companies use coupons and discounts — but often these can benefit from a small tweak to make them worth sharing. For example, instead of just handing their customers a 10% coupon, Homeslice Pizza gets them to write haikus, beat their server in a Rock Paper Scissors match, or do some other quirky challenge to get a deal.

That’s something people tell their friends about (and share photos of on Facebook and Instagram).
