I was at the Corner Bakery chain here in Chicago and noticed that they now have free wireless.

When I logged in, they asked me to take a little survey before I got connected.  Seems like a very fair deal – free internet in exchange for a some research.

Just one more way that creative companies can learn more about customers while serving them better.

I like this idea. As a customer, the availability of free internet greatly affects where I choose to go. Coffee shops with free wireless feel more friendly, and more concerned with their customer to me.
As a result, because of the goodwill the coffee shop has inspired, I’d happily take a short survey like that. It would be a way to say thank you, plus I’d know that the results would be put to good use in creating a better experience. The coffee shop has already demonstrated that they care about their customers, so I trust that they will do good things with their survey results as well.
