BlogWell New York We’re gearing up for our next BlogWell: How Big Businesses Use Social Media event on April 29 in New York — and in doing so, we’re sharing a bunch of presentations from our last BlogWell. I’m always amazed at the ideas and stories that are shared by some of the biggest companies in the world at BlogWell, and these videos give a good taste of that.

To hear case studies from Nokia, GE, Johnson & Johnson, Tyson Foods, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, and Turner Broadcasting System at BlogWell New York, click here to register and learn more.

Special thanks to our lead sponsor, nGenera, for help making BlogWell possible.

Susan Wassel’s big idea: Social media can be more important — and more cost effective — than ever given cuts in traditional media spending.

In this presentation, Susan covers why tight budgets shouldn’t deter you from getting in the social media game. Learn how Sharpie ramped up its social media game plan on a shoestring budget, using passion and the power of social media as currency to meet brand objectives.

CIMG3655 Did you know you can get personalized Sharpies (more info)?

How did Sharpie's Susan Wassel promote it?

She created souvenir pens with Barack Obama's signature, and gave them out at our BlogWell conference.  People were fighting to get one.

(No one would have responded if she passed out flyers or other traditional marketing material.)

Lesson: Good, simple word of mouth marketing shows someone something remarkable.
