We’re bringing together an all-star group of word of mouth marketers for Word of Mouth Supergenius: The “How to be Great at Word of Mouth Marketing” Conference on December 16 in Chicago. We’ll feature 12 how-to classes, 12 real-world case studies, and 6 brilliant authors. You’re going to learn practical, hands-on techniques to get people talking about you the next day.

Our lineup of speakers includes word of mouth supergenius and CME Group’s Director of Corporate Communications, Allan Schoenberg.

Here Allan shares a few tips on how to effectively use tools like Twitter and Facebook based on the class he’ll be hosting:

  • It’s not about you. Being out on these platforms is about interacting with your audience and talking about things that are relevant to them (which doesn’t mean it’s always news or info about you).
  • You have to be interactive. You have to ask questions, answer questions, and be willing to offer valuable information.
  • Take risks. All of these social media applications and tools are so new that taking risks allows you to discover things that work, as well as a few that don’t.

Hear Allan’s live Supergenius preview (and check out our Facebook page to see all our interviews):

BlogWell - How Big Brands Use Social MediaCome to BlogWell: How Big Brands Use Social Media on November 10 — hosted by Newell Rubbermaid — where you’ll hear Coca-Cola, UPS, SunGard, Orange Business Services, ConAgra Foods, Turner Broadcasting System, Newell Rubbermaid, and The Home Depot share case studies on how to create a fantastic social media program.

You’ll learn how to get started, get past roadblocks, and make your social media program phenomenal — and you’ll see some brilliant presentations like this one from BlogWell Minneapolis:

Suraya Bliss and Dave Tovar’s big idea: “If you give employees great reasons to show up, they’ll regularly return to your internal community.”

Suraya and Dave share how 90% of Walmart’s associates are returning to their internal community, “mywalmart.com,” every 10 days — as well as the impressive results they’ve seen since allowing comments and reviews on Walmart.com and how they’re using social media to engage journalists and stakeholders at shareholder meetings.
