We were at a street fair in Chicago and everyone was walking around with these stickers — for a “corn maze”. Of course, the kids were demanding to go, so we went. It was a maze, made of corn. Woo.
When we finished, they gave us the stickers. The kids covered themselves head to toe.
Now we’re spreading the word of mouth too. All it took was a sticker.
Lesson: Sometimes word of mouth is about making it easier for people to talk about you (and making it easy for a LOT of people to talk about you.)
You nailed it, Andy. I give out stickers to kids at trade show booths all the time and they love them. We throw a little animal print on the sticker and the kids go nuts. We even put our booth number on the sticker and the kids become walking ads for us. They enjoy the animal prints, we enjoy the free advertisements. Win-win as far as I’m concerned.
So true. I think many small businesses miss the power of something as relatively cheap and easy as this. Plus, it forces an organization to get creative with its message.
