Just wondering what you will do with 5,000 business cards. Are you attending a lot of face-to-face events or doing a mass mailing?
With so much networking and business conducted online, business cards are almost an unnecessary tool for business. My advice (unsolicited, of course) is to have a few hundred on hand, just for the purpose of handing them out to those you meet on a one-to-one basis, but invest the rest of the money you would spend on business cards in promoting your business online.
You really want to be careful about passing out business cards at a physical networking event. Those that run around “like a chicken with its head cut off” blindly handing out cards to everyone he/she sees is wasting valuable networking time. Instead, keep your cards in your pocket, until during the course of a conversation, someone actually asks you for one. You will get more mileage from your card that way instead of blindly handing them out to everyone you see.
