Instead of asking a blogger to write about you — ask them to promote themselves. We all love to talk about ourselves!
Twilight.top21sites.com (promoting the movie Twilight) — lists all the fan sites for the movie. The fan sites get top listing if they get fans to vote for them. So each of the individual sites runs a banner sending people back to the organizer.
It's a great mutually-beneficial promotion. Small sites are eager to get traffic by being listed first, and the organizer gets hundreds of sites linking back to them for free.

The idea of taking self-promotion to a higher level, has to include helping other’s promote themselves so that they will promote you. This is a great example of that point. Twilight is actually embracing their fan base at every point in their marketing, great stuff!
