Meat of the Month Club

December 14, 2009

IMG_1265The crew at GasPedal got me an amazing birthday present: The Zingerman’s Bacon of the Month Club. Thanks!

(My vegetarian wife got me a membership in the “Eat Your Stinky Meat Alone in the Basement Club.”)

Your business should be selling a “thing of the month club” — recurring shipments, monthly installments, or a subscription. Especially as a gift. The benefits are huge:

1. Word of mouth
Every month the recipient tells her friends and family about the gift, the merchant, and the products. And again. And again.

2. More sales
Every time I get a Zingerman’s box, I’ll be back on their web site to see what else they have.

3. Attention
After the holiday gifts are lost, eaten or returned, your product arrives in January, February, and all those other months where it doesn’t need to compete for attention.
