Tempur-Pedic mattresses does a great job of combining traditional advertising with word of mouth.

  • We know that word of mouth is more trusted and effective than advertising.
  • If you have great word of mouth, use your advertising to push people to that word of mouth.
  • It’s more effective than any canned message you could create.

This only works for companies that have great confidence in their products. You need to be sure the word of mouth is good before you send your prospects out to Twitter and Facebook to talk to customers. But if you have a great product, it’s fantastically effective.
