Twitter is now the best place to promote your blog posts. If just a few of the right people re-tweet it, you can reach tens of thousands of new readers instantly.
That means that your blog post headlines have to be Twitter-ready. A few tips:
- Tell the complete story in the headline. It has to make sense before you click, or no one will click.
- Use words like "How to" and "3 tips" so people want to read more.
- Keep it short – less than 100 characters. Remember to leave room for the link and the @name of anyone who re-tweets.
Any other advice?

Whenever you talk about twitter use your twitter name. That makes it easier for people to find you for the next twitter post. @CorporateDisk and @tomlothian.
You forgot to mention your twitter handle in the article
Use it like a person? The best way to use Twitter is to build relationships…not promote blog spam. Once you have the relationships…then blog spam away
.
Plan for retweets! Don’t use up all 140 characters – Start writing by including “RT @username:” … If users have to edit your post in order to retweet, forget it! Make it easy.
It’s fairly obvious, but use a URL shortener. I like bit.ly because it provides click through and retweet stats.
