From a sign in the lobby of the Chicago Tribune:
A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption of our work. He is the purpose of it. He is not an outsider to our business. He is part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him. He is doing us a favour by giving us the opportunity to do so.
— Mahatma Gandhi

That’s a time-tested yet refreshing way to look at customer service. What about genius innovators like Steve Jobs who know that the customer doesn’t know what he/she wants but Jobs knows and will dictate it to them? I think great customer service still applies to special companies like Apple.
That’s fantastic. Something I think every company should have near their front door/
I think this is brilliant!
I knew Gandhi made a lot for mankind in general and Indians in particular, but I didn’t know he had this to say about customer care!
Pleasantly surprised! =)
Another great quote, in the same vein, but on a different topic:
“We didn’t inherit the Earth from our parents.
We’re borrowing it from our children.”
- Chief Seattle
Very nice, I am going to suggest this for my company …
