How you can make friends
My kids' day care has a tiny parking lot that is always full.
There is a national gardening chain across the street that has a huge, empty parking lot. They told the parents not to park there.
This is an opportunity to make friends.
- Give the parents a parking pass and a discount card.
- Host a monthly happy hour
- Have gardening lessons for kids (and parents).
They could have sold so much by making friends with the parents. They would have an instant fan club.
Lesson: How can you make friends?

Ha! Love it. That's the interesting part about life - the best opportunities are often camouflaged by the apparent disadvantages... It's not too late for the chain to make friends. That's the cool thing about being nice. It's hardly ever too late.

This is so true - I came across the same situation at a workout center for women. The hardware store next door was combative to the point that the workout center ended up moving to a new location. They even talked to the hardware about the opportunity to encourage female shoppers and they didn't see it. Now I shop elsewhere.

Whoa now! Let's look at it from the big box's perspective. What if they allowed you to park on their property and then, as you were getting out of your car, you were struck on the head by a meteorite! They could get sued. This is what happens when you let the lawyers have too much sway.
