How to get people to blog about your event
1. Ask them to.
2. Give them ready-to-paste graphics.
3. Give them ready-to-paste text.
Great examples from BlogHer and Blog Business Summit.
Lesson: If you want word of mouth, you need to make it easy, easy, easy. People are happy to talk about you, but not if it's going to be a big hassle.

Andy, I think your lesson here is an important one. Enablement is definitely something we tend to overlook and underestimate. We must make it as easy as possible for people to talk and spread our message whether its an event, product, or personal brand.

Making it easy to do encourages viral marketing. I will be integrating this into my websites and blogs for now on. Thanks Andy!

Flow Festival here in Helsinki did just what you described.
They sent an email to all newsletter subscribers with a ready-made text and a link to their forum-friendly image.
I was so impressed I even blogged about it:
