I asked a few simple questions to a bunch of smart marketers. Enjoy this great answer from Guy Kawaski.
Great marketing comes down to one simple idea: Earn the respect and recommendation of your customers, and they will do the rest. What is your advice for any company that wants to …
1 … make people happy?
More than anything else, providing good, empathetic service makes people happy. It great to have a wonderful product, but a wonderful product with crappy service is a crappy product. Is a crappy product with great service a wonderful product? If I had to pick between the two, I’d pick this one.
2 … earn respect?
Under promise, and over deliver in all regards: performance, features, shipping date, service, returns, whatever.
3 … get a word of mouth recommendation?
Provide a great product with good service with under promising and over delivering marketing.
Thanks, Guy!
