Spread the Love

"Hey, Andy," you ask, "What's with the ridiculous number of tell-a-friend, post this, email this, etc. links?"

I want to demonstrate one of the most important principles from my book:

The simplest, most effective way to generate word of mouth is to:
1. Ask
2. Make it easy

Ask often, ask a lot, and ask nicely.

I ask people to share the posts in lots of places, in lots of ways, because I want everyone to be able to share in whatever way is easiest for them. It's a bit over the top, but it makes the point.

At the very least, you need a "tell a friend" button on every single page of your web site. Think about it... someone is looking at a page. They want to advertise for you, for free. Get out of the way and make it as easy as possible.

andy, it's a bit overwhelming on the site where (in many cases) the "share the love" section is longer than the post itself. visually, it's really difficult to navigate to the "good stuff." even just including the "send to a friend" button, which linked to a new form for the email info, etc., might be a simple way to perhaps deal with it and remove some of the clutter.

the RSS feed, OTOH, looks fine in bloglines.

just one opinion...

Hi Andy,

Just finished the Ambassador call on Word of Mouth Marketing which you presented. A little background. I had lost my drive when I decided to do something about it and joined the Ambassador program. This did help me to get back on track and listening to you this evening talking about love being the drive in marketing was the most inspiring words I have heard in a long time. I feel very empowered to do more on promoting our support. Get people to talk about it. A lot needs to change but I feel a lot more can be done. It has been a pleasure "meeting" you and I cannot wait to read your book.
Many Thanks,
Pernille
